Description

These Big Mac-inspired rice paper rolls offer a unique fusion twist on classic cheeseburgers by wrapping seasoned ground beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and pickles in crispy baked rice paper. Perfect as a fun snack or appetizer, these rolls combine bold flavors with a delightful crunch.

Ingredients

Rice Paper Wraps

  • 12 rice paper sheets

Beef Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fillings

  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickles (optional)

For Baking

  • Cooking spray or olive oil for brushing
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil or parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Cook Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with finely chopped onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook until the beef is fully browned and onions are softened. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
  3. Soften Rice Paper: Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip each rice paper sheet into the water for 5 to 10 seconds until it becomes soft and pliable but not overly soggy to avoid tearing.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Place a spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of the softened rice paper, add some shredded lettuce and pickles if using. Roll the rice paper tightly around the fillings, folding in the sides to seal.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Arrange the rice paper rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the rolls with olive oil or cooking spray to help them crisp up evenly. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired for added texture and flavor.
  6. Bake Rolls: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the rice paper turns golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly to firm up before serving. Enjoy them with your favorite burger sauces such as ketchup, mustard, ranch, or special burger sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Don’t oversoak the rice paper as it can tear easily; a quick dip is sufficient.
  • Allow the beef mixture to cool slightly before rolling to prevent soggy rice paper wrappers.
  • These rolls pair wonderfully with classic burger sauces like ketchup, mustard, or ranch for dipping.
  • For a more authentic Big Mac flavor, consider adding a homemade special sauce or a slice of processed cheese instead of shredded cheddar.
