Description

A traditional French Savoyard wild garlic marinade featuring oven-baked Savoyard beef in a flavorful tomato sauce with green olives and herbs de Provence. This healthy dish is gluten-free and dairy-free, perfect for a beginner-level cook wanting to enjoy authentic Savoyard flavors.

Ingredients

Beef

  • 4 Savoyard beef steaks

Sauce and Condiments

  • 75 cl tomato sauce
  • 20 green olives
  • 1 teaspoon herbs de Provence
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking the beef.
  2. Prepare Beef. Place the Savoyard beef steaks into an ovenproof dish, arranging them evenly.
  3. Add Sauce and Seasonings. Cover the beef steaks generously with tomato sauce. Distribute the green olives evenly over the top, sprinkle with herbs de Provence, and season with salt to taste.
  4. Bake. Place the ovenproof dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked through and tender.
  5. Final Seasoning. Remove from oven and adjust seasoning by adding freshly ground black pepper as desired.
  6. Serve. Ideally serve the baked Savoyard beef with a side of mashed potatoes for a hearty meal.

Notes

  • For a more aromatic and flavorful marinade, allow the beef to rest in the tomato sauce for a few hours before cooking.
  • Ensure the ovenproof dish is suitable for mini or traditional ovens.
  • This dish is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free, suitable for those with these dietary restrictions.
